Kelley Carrey, Guitar

Kelley Carey has played guitar for almost 30 years. At least half of that time has been spent either teaching or playing professionally. In the early 1980's he played in and around the Phoenix Arizona area in the southern rock/classical rock band "Split Image". The band headlined larger clubs and venues for several years.

During this time ('80-'82) Kelley was also an architectural major at Arizona State University, with a minor in musical composition. In 1982, Kelley took a hiatus from academic endeavors to pursue music full time. While teaching at The Talent Center, in Phoenix, he founded the band "Shamans Mace". The metal corner band opened for nationally- touring acts including "Surgical Steel" (a Judas Priest tribute band) and the August Flotsam and Jetsam; that included a young bass player named Jason Newsted- who later helped form the band Metallica.

In 1986 Kelley founded the all-original "Studio Project U.S.A".   The band enjoyed some airplay locally in the Phoenix area.

After moving to Ohio '89,  Kelley taught for several years at the now-defunct Alingview Music with local guitarist Brad Taylor. In '94 Kelley returned to College at the Ohio State University, this time switching majors to music theory and composition with a minor in jazz guitar performance.

Lately the guitarist is involved with another all-original recording project, "Anonymous". The band consists of only two members: Kelley and virtuoso drummer and singer-songwriter Michael Mearini. Together they play all the instruments, and produce their own CD's.

Kelley is also currently a painting sub-contractor who actively maintains several private students, including his own thirteen year old son. And he still enjoys "playing out" every now and then; that is when he's not spending time with his four wonderful children- Kyle, Kelley II ( the guitarist), and twins Katelyn and Kalina.
