Encore Music Studios' July Music Notes

Dear Encore Family,

While the beginning of Summer is marked for many families by vacations, Encore continues its drive toward musical excellence, enthusiasm, and enrichment for its students!  Hot off the press is the hiring of Rachael Keplin, who will be taking Sean's former students at the beginning of August.  We will all miss Sean as he continues his musical development at Northwestern University in the graduate program!  Rachael Keplin is a violist, violinist and string pedagogue who holds a Master of Arts in string pedagogy from The Ohio State University and a Bachelor of Music in viola performance from Kennesaw State University. Rachael is the viola artist for Chamber Brews and performs with local orchestras such as the Central Ohio Symphony, McConnell Arts Center Chamber Orchestra, Westerville Symphony, and Newark Granville Symphony. She is passionate about youth outreach and serves as an orchestral coach for the Columbus Symphony Youth Orchestra and local Columbus schools. When she is not teaching, performing or practicing she is writing on pedagogy in her blog, Raising the Bottom Line.  She will be achieving her Suzuki Certifications next summer.  She will be shadowing Sean beginning Monday, July 10th so his students and parents can get to know her better before she takes over in August.

August brings a slight adjustment in tuition cost for just a few who were still paying the older monthly amounts.  In August, everyone will be paying $110/30 min. lessons and $155/45 min. lessons.

In Celebration of the 4th of July,  Encore will be closed this Tuesday.  This week both Studio locations have Red, White, and Blue Candies in the Hearts normally reserved for the glass practice gems!  Students may take candies numbering the days practiced for the previous week.  5 Days practiced means the students may take 5 candies for consumption.

We are currently beginning a search for female Voice/Piano teacher as I have very few spaces left in my own studio and Encore continues to grow.  If by any chance anyone has a lead for such a teacher, please bring it to my attention as I would like to have her in place by August!

Happy Fourth of July everyone!
