Encore Teachers, Students, and Families,
2019 at Encore brings new opportunities and responsibilities! As some of you might have known, our Dublin location was formerly being shared with Diane LaHue and VRS. Encore Music Studios has now expanded into the entire location which adds a 3rd teaching studio and a large classroom for Group Lessons, Private Lessons, Teacher Meetings, Master Classes, and Performance opportunities for students in between recitals. Encore is now offering a Keyboard Class that will take place on Wednesdays from 6:00-7:00pm. This Keyboard Class will focus on developing the skills to accompany other musicians with a working knowledge of music theory, primarily through listening to a variety of music and improvising. It will consist of a 10-week course beginning 1/30/19 and ending 4/3/19 and will be taught by our talented Ian Harrah! I am also wanting to start a Beginning Guitar Class, possibly from 5:00-6:00pm on Wednesdays as well. Details to follow!
We have installed a coat/music bag hook in each of the studios for your convenience. We are considering Saturday, April 20th or 27th for our 2019 Spring Recitals depending on Church of the Master availability. January tuition was submitted late by a fair number of you. With this new obligation and opportunity in Dublin comes a more stringent requirement that payments are made in a timely manner. Some have already paid for February- Thank You! For business reasons, though more impersonal, I will add a late fee of $15 on the 2nd of each month for tuition that is late without exception. Please take note of this, as I have tried to be lenient in the past.
Most students are consistently achieving gold practice stars. Great Job! If you or your child are not practicing at least 5 days/week AND writing it down on your practice sheet faithfully, NOW is the time to make a change! We added new prizes in December for the Holiday and Winter Season. Thank you once again for your dedication to the pursuit of excellence in music, for your enthusiasm to improve, and choosing Encore Music Studios as the place to spend this enriching time! Great Job Teachers, as I am aware of the striving efforts to improve your craft and musicianship each of you is making! Thanks Parents for providing a supportive environment at home and urging your children on when needed! Let's make this the Best Year ever!

Encore Music Studios' September 2018 Music Notes
Encore Music Studios' Family,
While the 2018-2019 School Year has begun and Summer makes clear that it isn't going to leave just yet, our attention at Encore Music Studios turns to our Autumn Recitals. We are once again blessed to have secured the outstanding Church of the Master facilities for the Saturday, November 17th Recitals. Thanks, Kitty! Recital start times are 10:00 am and 11:45 am and they will each last a little over an hour. Refreshments will once again be provided in the Atrium after group photos thanks to our talented volunteer group of bakers! Please make every effort to participate as these are umatched, free opportunites for performance experience in a friendly and supportive setting. Also it provides the teachers and students the time to focus on 1 or 2 musical selections in order to refine and perfect them. More recital details will follow! Some students are starting on their recital music this week!
A hearty(get it?!) welcome to Harrison Belew, guitar teacher, Abby Wagner, viola and violin teacher, and Leslie Horn, flute and bassoon teacher for joining the academic ranks of Encore Music Studios in August!
Some of you may have a noticed that my wife purchased a few new art and activity items for both lobbies to the the young ones busy. Thanks Helen!
As always, thank you to each of you who make Encore Music Studios an excellent and enthusiastic place to grow and enrich our musical abilities!

Encore Music Studios' February 2018 Newsletter
Encore Music Studios' Family,
While Valentine's Day is past us, you are in our hearts on our combined journey towards musical excellence! We added some Valentine's Day Prizes and Stickers this February. The periodic warming periods remind us of the upcoming Encore Spring Recitals! A few of you might have begun practicing your recital songs. If not, expect your teachers to assign you or your child songs in the next week or two. Our Spring Recitals will take place Saturday, April 21st at The Church of the Master United Methodist Sanctuary on Otterbein Campus 24 N. Grove St. Westerville. You may choose either the 10:00 am or 11:30 am time once the Signup Page at our website goes online on April 2nd. Thanks again to Kitty, Director Emeritus for securing the wonderful venue!
While most of our students are practicing well, some, especially young students, have trouble at times. If you are a parent of one of these children and are feeling discouraged, PLEASE talk with your child's teacher about these concerns or feel free to call me! Collectively, we have a great deal of experience and in addition to incentives we offer through the Studio, we will work with you to find something to inspire them and increase their interest level through new music, greater challenges, or a customized incentive program, etc. . .
Ideally, we would like every student to be memorized for the Recitals but it is not absolutely necessary. We will again ask our resourceful Encore Family to help with Recital refreshments. More about the recitals later. Thanks Parents, Grandparents, Students, and Teachers for all that you do to contribute to the musical excellence we strive for. You are all enriching each other's lives and together making Encore the enthusiastic place it is!
