Acoustic Guitar Lessons

Our guitar instructors teach jazz, rock, blues, pop, indie, and country on acoustic guitar. Beginners work on chords, simple songs and melodies, sight reading and theory. Lessons present new technical challenges or theory concepts, and include something fun, such as your favorite riff or song. We employ a variety of guitar method books based on student needs and preferences and encourage students to bring smartphones to their lessons to learn their favorite tunes.

What will I learn from acoustic guitar lessons at the Academy?

Beginner guitar students can expect to work on chords, simple songs and melodies, sight-reading, technique, and theory. Our instructors balance musicianship and fun by making sure that lessons present new technical challenges or theory concepts, and include something fun, such as your favorite riff or song. We use a variety of guitar method books including Hal Leonard and others.  We encourage students to bring a smartphone or tablet to their lessons to learn their favorite tunes.

Do I need to purchase an acoustic guitar to learn the instrument?

Ideally, each student will own or be able to purchase a guitar. However, it is perfectly fine to rent a beginner acoustic guitar from us ($25/month) as a temporary solution. After the student moves past beginner level, we highly recommend purchasing an acoustic guitar.  Feel free to ask us if you need suggestions for stores to visit.
